Day 1) Kathmandu: 5* Hotel
Arrival in Kathmandu Tribhuvan Airport. Airport pick up and hotel transfer. Opportunity for exploration in your own time of the ancient city and sightseeing of the world heritage sights. Briefing in the evening for the trip ahead. Introduction to your dirt bikes and familiarisation with them. Receiving duffel bags for re-packing. Your own suitcases can be left with us in our office.
Day 2) Summit River Resort : 4* Hotel
Our motorbike tour begins as we head out of Kathmandu onto the Prithvi Highway ‘the world’s most dangerous road’ (according to the BBC!). Today will be a great ride where you’ll experience the boisterous Kathmandu traffic. The mountain roads will afford beautiful views and the terrain will keep your attention well and truly on the road. To take in the scenery make sure you pull over and stop first! We will arrive in the afternoon, and cross a Nepali suspension foot-bridge to get to the sub-tropical riverside resort with plenty of time to relax at the poolside. 104km
Day 3) Pokhara: 4* Hotel
Today we’ll head back out to the busy mountain highway and stay low by the Trishuli riverside. As we head further west the road becomes quieter and more and more scenic. The hilltop views give us the chance to see some white peaks before we head down to the very bumpy road into Pokhara where the ride will shake you up, but once you arrive at the lakeside you will definitely have your breath taken away. The mountains lie before your eyes, white and glistening peaks reflected in the waters of Lake Phewa along which the town sits. Then it’ll be time for a boat ride to the lake’s temple and to say some prayers to guide us on our way safely back to Kathmandu. To get to our hotel tonight we will travel on a raft pulled across the lake by a rope. Fishtail Lodge is in a unique location situated on a peninsula on Lake Phewa, a scenic base for a short stay in the town. 100km
Day 4) Rest Day: 4* Hotel
Many options today as to where to go, since Pokhara has many attractions – Devi Falls – a beautiful waterfall where caves take you to a hidden cavernous passage just underneath the waterfall to get a spectacular view from behind the water. The World Peace Stupa on top of a nearby hill is also a short ride out of town where there is an amazing view of Pokhara, the lake and the mountains. The International Mountain Museum is also worth visiting and contains a wealth of information on Nepal’s mountains. Another beautiful viewpoint is from Sarangkot hilltop where the sunrise and sunsets are especially awe-inspiring.
Day 5) Lumbini: 3* Hotel
It will be an early start today. We have a great ride ahead of us through small villages on local quiet roads. The weather will heat up as we head south to the birthplace of Buddha, changing from a sub-tropical climate to the tropical jungles of the Terai. Lumbini is a Buddhist place of pilgrimage and has been so from ancient times. It is designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The archeological remains associated with the birth of the Buddha have been preserved and around these are other temples taking inspiration from the architecture of different countries practising Buddhism. There will be enough time to look around the following day. 170km
Day 6) Rest Day: 3* Hotel
Free day to sight-see in Lumbini and soak up the peaceful atmosphere. There are many spots to sit quietly in the gardens and the beauty of the temples brings some tranquility to our trip so far. There will be time to relax at the hotel and enjoy the hot weather.
Day 7) Jagatpur, Chitwan: 4* Hotel
Now we’re properly into the jungle: it’s hot, it’s lush, it’s green and it’s wild. The roads are mostly flat and straight with traffic heading between Nepal and India. We’ll ride along the highway all the way to the Tiger Land Safari resort where the jungle calls await. 132km
Day 8) Jungle Safari: 4* Hotel
Enjoy a free day, go on elephant back safari, or just chill out at the resort. If you’re lucky some of the wildlife you may spot include: the greater one horned rhino, Royal Bengal tiger, leopard, spotted deer, wild dogs, sloth bear and jackals. The water bodies afford the patient visitor glimpses of the prehistoric-looking Mugger crocodiles as well as the long-snouted Gharial crocodile that can be spotted basking on the banks of the rivers. In the evening enjoy a Nepali cultural dance show.
Day 9) Kathmandu via Hetauda: 5*Hotel
This is the last day riding back to Kathmandu where we’ll head back up to the middle hills on roads that get more and more windy. We’ll pass Hetauda, one of Nepal’s larger dwelling places, and stop for lunch before continuing our journey, as there’s a long way still to go. Enjoy the beautiful wild and rugged Nepali landscapes and the freedom of the road before you. Tonight we’re back at the 5* hotel for a celebration and farewell meal. 154km
