20130622_181837Combining the very best of the deep south music cities of Nashville, Memphis & New Orleans with the stunning scenery of the Smoky Mountains this will be a tour to live long in your memory. Approx. 2000 miles.

For anyone wishing to explore the “Deep South” of the eastern USA, this tour is a must. You will visit the States of Georgia, North Carolina, Tennessee, Mississippi, Louisiana, and Alabama, the world renowned venues of Gracelands and Beal Street (Memphis), Bourbon Street and the French Quarter (New Orleans) and the home of Country Music (Nashville).  You will ride some of the most scenic routes of The Great Smoky Mountains, The Dragon’s Tail, Cherohala Skyway, Natchez Trace, Deals Gap, levee’s of the Mississippi and the Gulf Coast.

Day 1 – Arrive in Atlanta, Georgia for your first overnight stay.20130620_193213

Day 2 – Pick up your bike – rest day free to explore Atlanta.

Day 3 – Your first day of riding, heading to the Great Smoky Mountains and the historical town of america-2008-1-27Gatlinburg. Along the route you will pass through the Chattahoochee National Forest, the Cherokee Indian Reservation and  ride the Newfoundland Gap Road through the Great Smoky Mountain National Park. During the day you will have taken in the three states of Georgia, North Carolina and finally Tennessee. Two nights here. Approx. 212 miles.

 

Day 4 – Free day to explore the local area. Smoky Mountains National Park or maybe “Dollywood” in dsc04240nearby Pigeon Forge. Gatlinburg itself has many shops, galleries and is home to over 100 artisan craft outlets.

Day 5 – probably the most scenic riding day of the tour. The Little River Road through the edge 20130624_113051of the Smoky Mountain National Park, Foothills Parkway, Deals Gap and The Tail of The Dragon (318 turns in 11 miles) and the stunning Cherohala Skyway through the Nantahala National forest. Overnight in Chatanooga (yes, of Choo Choo fame). Approx. 211 miles.

 

Day 6 – Today you set off for the country music capital, Nashville, Tennesse. Along the way take 20130625_111730in the scenic roads, south of Nashville and visit the World famous Jack Daniels Distillery in Lynchburg. Approx. 165 miles.

Day 7 – Today you head for Memphis, the hometown of Elvis Presley and the famous Blues of Beale Street. Taking in a large section of the Natchez Trace Parkway. 2 nights here at the famous Heartbreak Hotel opposite Gracelands. Approx. 294 miles.

Day 8 – Free day today to visit Gracelands and the city of Memphis. Night time in america-2008-2-555and around Beale Street should be fun.

  • Day 9 – Old Man River (Mississippi) is your partner for the day. Follow the levees of this mighty river through the towns of Greenville and ultimately to your overnight stay in the riverside city of Vicksburg . Approx. 240 miles.

Day 10 – Heading south you once again join up with The Natchez Trace Parkway before heading off america-2008-2-513through the Homochitto National Forest and into Louisiana to the home of Jazz, New Orleans. Two nights here to enjoy the sights and sounds of this cosmopolitan city. Approx. 245 miles.

Day 11 – free day to explore New Orleans and the mighty Mississippi. Don’t miss Bourbon Street and the French Quarter for your evening’s entertainment.

dsc04264Day 12 – With jazz and blues still rolling around your head you leave New Orleans via the Toll Causeway over the huge Lake Pontchartrain. Once over there, continue east out of Louisiana, back into Mississippi and along the Gulf Coast into Alabama. After a short trip on a ferry across the mouth of Mobile Bay you will only have a short ride to your overnight stay in Mobile. Approx. 210 miles.

Day 13 – Sweet home Alabama provides the backdrop for your ride today. The State of Alabama is steeped in American folklore and history.  Spend overnight in dsc04227Downtown Montgomery, the State Capital of Alabama. Approx. 200 miles.

Day 14 – On your final day you will ride through the scenic Eastern regions of Alabama and onwards into Georgia for your final overnight stop in the city of Atlanta. Approx. 180 miles.

Day 15 – Fly home.

Supplementary Liability Insurance is also available at £15 and £20 per day.

When you are going to be riding in hot temperatures, you may wish to consider our mesh and hyperkewl products to help keep you cool

In the case of major Exchange Rate fluctuations, we reserve the right to alter prices and issue a currency surcharge/refund if necessary.

A deposit of £300 per bike is required in you reserve your place more than 24 weeks before the tour starts.  50% of the tour price is required to be paid 24 weeks before the tour starts and the balance paid 12 weeks before the tour starts.

Prices include the following:-

14 nights hotel accommodation (breakfast included at some Hotels), 12 days Harley Davidson Motorcycle rental including sales & environmental taxes (other bikes are available with daily supplements), tour information pack, route maps and itinerary.

Pre-programmed GPS is available for £250 with £300 deposit.

Flights are not included.

Please note that HVT reserve the right to route the Music & Mountains tour to suit weather condition or other issues that may affect the actual route chosen.  All mileages area approximate.
